The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXVIII to Parody ‘The Exorcist’ and ‘Coraline’

Entertainment Weekly (EW) has released a first look at this year’s “Treehouse of Horror” episode of The Simpsons, scheduled to air on October 22 and in it we’ve learned that the episode will parody the 1973 horror classic The Exorcist, as well as Neil Gaiman’s novel, turned movie Coraline.

According to EW, the parody of The Exorcist will feature cameos from two individuals tied to The Exorcist franchise. Ben Daniels, who plays Father Marcus Lang in the Fox drama The Exorcist will voice the priest in the episode who is called in to exorcise a possessed Maggie Simpson.  The Exorcist film director William Friedkin is also expected to make a cameo as the voice of an addiction therapist.

In the Simpsons Halloween treatment of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline, Lisa will take on the role of Coraline and find herself in the stories idealized parallel world where everyone has buttons for eyes.  The story’s creator Neil Gaiman revealed last month on Twitter that he would be a voice in the episode, but would not play himself, instead, he will voice Snowball V who we can only assume is taking on the role of Wybie’s cat based on the image below.

Treehouse of Horror XXVIII will also feature a guest appearance from celebrity chef Mario Batali when he voices himself in a segment titled, “Mmm… Homer.”

Treehouse of Horror XXVIII will air on October 22, 2017 at 8 PM ET/PT on Fox.
