It’s May 1, and with a new month comes a new lineup of free horror titles to watch on VIZIO WatchFree+. This month’s lineup includes current favorites like “Terrifier” and “Terrifier 2” as well as horror classics like “Leprechaun” and “Evil Dead 2.”
House at the End of the Street
Leading this month’s lineup is “House at the End of the Street,” which stars Jennifer Lawrence (“The Hunger Games”) as Elissa, a teenager who after moving to a new town with her recently divorced mother befriends Ryan, a mysterious outcast whose house was the site of a gruesome double murder years prior. As their relationship deepens, Elissa uncovers dark secrets about Ryan’s past and the truth behind the killings, leading to a terrifying and unexpected confrontation.
The Cabin in the Woods
In this modern horror favorite, a group of kids go to a remote cabin in the woods where technicians unknowingly control their fate as part of a worldwide conspiracy where horror movie clichรฉs are revealed to be part of an elaborate sacrifice ritual. The film stars Kristen Connolly (“The Happening”), Chris Hemsworth (“Thor: Ragnarok”), and Anna Hutchison (“Robert the Bruce”).
The Grudge
“The Grudge” stars Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) as an American nurse living in Tokyo who encounters a vengeful supernatural curse that originates in a house where a horrific murder took place. This curse, known as the “grudge,” is born from intense rage and sorrow and latches onto anyone who enters the house, ultimately leading to their terrifying demise. The curse is cyclical and spreads to those who come into contact with its victims, creating a chain of horrifying deaths.
Warm Bodies
“Warm Bodies” is a zombie romantic comedy set in a post-apocalyptic world. The story centers on “R” (Nicholas Hoult, “Renfield”), a young zombie who experiences an unusual urge to save a living human woman named Julie (Teresa Palmer, “Mix Tape”) during a zombie attack. After her rescue, the two form a relationship that sets in motion events that might transform the entire lifeless world. The film also stars John Malkovich (“Being John Malkovich”)
Saw
It would go on to spawn nine sequels with a tenth in the works, “SAW” stars Cary Elwes (“The Princess Bride”) and Leigh Whannell (“Insidious”) as two men who awaken to find themselves on the opposite sides of a dead body, each with specific instructions to kill the other or face consequences. Danny Glover (“Lethal Weapon”) also stars.
Leprechaun
Warwick Davis (“Willow”) stars in this cult classic as an evil, sadistic Leprechaun who goes on a killing rampage in search of his beloved pot of gold. The film also stars a pre-Friends Jennifer Aniston.
Evil Dead 2
Part remake, part sequel, “Evil Dead 2” blends the elements of the original “The Evil Dead” with a more comedic and over-the-top approach. Bruce Campbell reprises his role as Ash Williams, the lone survivor from the first film, as he holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue attacking.
The Crazies
In “The Crazies,” residents of a picture-perfect Midwestern town begin to succumb to an uncontrollable urge for violence when a mysterious toxin in the water supply turns everyone exposed to it into mindless killers. It’s a nightmarish struggle for survival in this tense remake of the 1973 George Romero film of the same name. The film stars Radha Mitchell (“Silent Hill”), Timothy Olyphant (“Justified”), and Danielle Panabaker (“The Flash”)
Grindhouse: Planet Terror
“Planet Terror” is a grindhouse-style zombie horror film that takes place after an experimental bio-weapon is released, turning thousands into zombie-like creatures. Rose McGowan (“Charmed”) stars as Cherry Darling, who teams up with a rag-tag group of survivors to stop the infected and those behind its release. Freddy Rodrรญguez (“Harsh Times”) and Josh Brolin (“No Country for Old Men”) also star.
The Call
From the creator of “Final Destination,” Lin Shaye (“Insidious” franchise) and Tobin Bell (“Saw” franchise) star in this terrifying tale of death set in 1987. After a tragic accident, a group of small-town friends must survive the night in the home of a sinister couple.
Terrifier
David Howard Thornton stars as Art the Clown in this hyper-violent slasher that made the character a modern horror icon. Set on Halloween night, the maniacal clown terrorizes two friends and everyone who gets in his way. The film also stars Jenna Kanell (“Renfield”) and Samantha Scaffidi (“Demon Hole”).
Terrifier 2
In this sequel to 2016’s “Terrifier”, Art the Clown is resurrected by a sinister entity and returns to Miles County, where he begins to target a teenage girl (Lauren LaVera, “Iron Fist”) and her younger brother (Elliott Fullam, “The Calling”) on Halloween.
Mark of the Witch
In “Mark of the Witch,” a beautiful young woman is driven into a dark underworld of demonic possession, desire, and extreme indulgences when she learns she may be the devil’s kin. The film stars Paulie Rojas (“Drawn into the Night”), Maria Olsen (“Beneath Us All”), and Nancy Wolfe (“Steel”).
