Psychological Thriller ‘Basic Psych’ Sets April Digital Release

Two-time Tony winner Michael Cerveris (“Assassins”) and David Conrad (“The Ghost Whisperer”) are set to face off in “Basic Psych,” a chilling new psychological thriller arriving on digital platforms on April 21, 2026.

Directed by Melissa Martin (“The Bread”) and written by James Tucker (“Abra Cadaver”), the film centers on a psychiatrist (Cerveris) trapped in a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game with a paranoid murderer. As their sessions devolve into a shadow world of threats, the doctor finds his professional ethics—and his family’s safety—at a violent crossroads.

The film boasts a strong supporting cast, including Cotter Smith (“Mindhunter”) and Siena Goines (“Westworld”). A true Pittsburgh production, “Basic Psych” filmed in and around the city with local talent on both sides of the camera. The film also served as the opening night selection for the Three Rivers Film Festival.

“Basic Psych” will be available to rent or own on digital platforms, including Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home, starting next month.
