Game Atelier, the studio that brought you Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom and Otherskin, has announced that its upcoming asymmetrical horror game Follow Us will launch on Steam Early Access on June 5, 2026.
In Follow Us, players choose between one of two roles: The Explorer (EXY), who must bravely navigate a deadly haunted environment, and The Operator (OPY), who guides their partner remotely from a surveillance van while hacking the playspace to keep them alive.
The Early Access launch will feature three distinct levels:
- Ökaou: Featured in the game’s current demo, this level forces EXY to navigate a labyrinthine, Ikea-like department store. OPY must guide them through the layout and trigger light cameras to freeze mannequins that come to life.
- A Night with DJ Susan: A “spot the difference” puzzle level where OPY and EXY see different versions of the environment. Players must communicate constantly to identify and survive the anomalies.
- Employee of the Month: An invincible enemy stalks EXY throughout the entire level. OPY must track the creature’s position through an electrical system and control doors to keep their partner one step ahead.
Every mission tackles fear differently, but they all aim for the same result: shared panic, bad decisions, and frantic laughter. The Explorer experiences isolation and immediate danger in the field, while the Operator suffers through helplessness and constant pressure.
Using lo-fi, chunky PSone-inspired graphics, Follow Us pairs a clean, legible aesthetic with unexpected communication breakdowns to deliver pure co-op chaos.
“We really wanted to recreate that feeling we have all had while watching one of our friends play a horror game,” said Hugo at Game Atelier. “During one playtest, one player was curled up in fear while the other was yelling at them to keep moving forward through the level. That was the moment we knew the experience was working.
As with any Early Access title, Game Atelier plans to iterate on the experience, evolving the game over time based on community feedback.
