On Tuesday, A24 dropped the official teaser for its upcoming liminal spaces horror “Backrooms.”
The project marks the feature directorial debut of Kane Parsons, the 20-year-old visionary who turned the liminal space aesthetic into a viral phenomenon with his found-footage YouTube series of the same name. Expanding on that eerie digital lore, the film is penned by Will Soodik (“Ash vs Evil Dead”).
The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave”) and Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”). The plot follows the discovery of a mysterious doorway in a furniture showroom basement that leads into an infinite, ever-shifting labyrinth of yellow-hued hallways.
