Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch Enlists Troy Baker, Composer Oscar Araujo for Switch 2 Asymmetric Co-Op Horror

Independent developer Atlantis Studio has revealed major talent additions and a fresh look at “Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch,” its upcoming two-player asymmetrical co-op horror title launching Oct. 22 on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The studio announced that acclaimed voice actor Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Death Stranding) and award-winning composer Oscar Araujo (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow trilogy) have joined the project. Baker provides key character voice work, while Araujo’s original score dynamically responds to the game’s atmospheric tension and isolation.

Alongside the talent announcement, Atlantis Studio debuted a new gameplay trailer highlighting Araujo’s music, Baker’s performance, and the first full look at the Gloam—the sinister entity haunting the game’s central location, the House. To bring the Gloam to life, the developer collaborated with Kyoto-based studio Q-Games (known for its Cloudly technology on Ace Combat 8), which provided specialized animation expertise.

In “Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch,” gameplay hinges entirely on asymmetric perspective and clear communication. One player ventures deep inside the sinister House in first person, searching for clues, deciphering environmental signs, and attempting to evade the ever-encroaching Gloam.

Meanwhile, the second player operates from a completely different vantage point. Using a network of security cameras and tactical tools, they monitor the environment, guide their partner, and warn of incoming threats.

The core tension stems from this fundamental gap in perspective. With neither player possessing the full picture, learning to trust a partner who sees things entirely differently becomes a matter of immediate survival.

Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch releases Oct. 22 for Nintendo Switch 2. Digital pre-orders are available now on the Nintendo eShop.
