Blumhouse and Meta Have Teamed Up for an All-New Horror Viewing Experience Ahead of Halloween

Blumhouse and Meta have announced the launch of the Blumhouse Enhanced Cinema App, bringing a new, terrifyingly immersive movie format to the Meta Quest platform. This app reimagines iconic horror films like M3GAN and The Black Phone with enhanced visual effects and spatial audio, designed to make the thrills leap off the screen and into your living room.

Developed by Nexus Studios, the Enhanced Cinema App transforms traditional viewing into a mixed reality experience. Unlike traditional viewing, every whisper, scream, and shadow feels like it is right next to you, effectively blurring the line between watching a film and living inside oneโ€”making it perfect for the Halloween season.

As you watch “M3GAN”, your walls fall away to reveal a dark, misty forest. Shield your face as shattered glass flies off the screen, and brace yourself for impact as explosions fill your room. From chilling ambient effects to the eerie presence of characters close by, this is horror made to be felt, not just watched.

The initial featured experiences are “M3GAN”, the 2022 pop culture phenomenon about a highly advanced, self-aware AI doll, and “The Black Phone”, the chilling story of a teenage boy who is abducted and finds a supernatural way to communicate with the killer’s previous victims.

The Blumhouse Enhanced Cinema App and the VR-enhanced versions of “M3GAN” and “The Black Phone” are available now in the Meta Horizon Store. Each enhanced film is sold separately for $4.99 each.
