Breakout Social Horror Game ‘Deceit’ Launches Terrifying Halloween Event

The devious and macabre world of “Deceit” is now even creepier thanks to the game’s free Halloween update. Downloaded by over 13 million players, “Deceit” continues to receive a steady flow of content updates and improvements from developer World Makers, including the recent introduction of an entirely new progression system.

Inspired by the party game “Werewolf” and a variety of classic horror films, the CRYENGINE-powered “Deceit” drops up to six players into a mysterious contest for survival wherein a third of the party is secretly infected. Using in-game voice chat, items, and clues, the innocents must work together to escape alive while the infected work to sabotage the team, either by force or by seeding doubt and paranoia to turn players against each other. When the lights go out, the infected can transform into vicious terrors and hunt the survivors down.

The Halloween event runs from October 14 to November 8 and includes:

  • 32 new cosmetics, including the Legendary Vampire Lord terror skin, Witch Lisa outfit, and other Halloween-themed items including accessories, weapons, poses, and more.
  • Halloween 2020 cosmetics added to the Vault, allowing players another chance to get event-limited cosmetics such as the Legendary Medusa Nina and Zombie Bride Lisa outfits.
  • 25 Halloween-specific Challenges added to the Labyrinth.
  • Halloween Tokens are temporarily replacing Normal Tokens in purchasable packs. Tokens can be redeemed at the Booth for random cosmetic rewards.
  • Candy Collection: Collect candy around each map during a match. Collecting enough will award Halloween cosmetics or tokens.

A Bonus Ticket Weekend that boosts tickets earned by playing matches by an additional 50% will be live from October 30 to November 1.

The update also introduces a new Item Upgrade system which allows players to modify the functionality and appearance of items obtained during matches, starting with a series of Halloween-exclusive upgrades.

“Halloween is always my favorite time of year for Deceit – and this year the team has really outdone itself,” says Jordan Fox, co-founder and technical director, World Makers. “The new item upgrade system makes every match even more spirited, and the seasonal cosmetics are the best yet. Just make sure to keep an eye on those that are quiet and inconspicuous – they’re the ones who’ll stab you in the back when you least expect it.”

The Halloween Mega Bundle has also been added to the in-game shop. It is available for $9.99 and contains the following content:

  • Event-exclusive Beelzebub Experiment terror skin
  • 10x Halloween Tokens
  • 1x of each Halloween Item Upgrade
    • Pumpkin Head (Tracker)
    • Sugar Rush (Antidote)
    • Ghostly (Armour)
    • Explosive (Lethal Injection)
    • Jack-in-the-box (Trap)

“Deceit” is free to play and available now via Steam.
