Celebrate Halloween on the High Seas With These Halloween Themed Cruises

There are a lot of different ways to celebrate Halloween, but if you’re looking for something a bit less traditional, you might want to consider some spookiness at sea.  Both Disney Cruise Lines and Carnival Cruise Lines are offering special programming that allows fun for kids and adults alike to celebrate Halloween on the high seas.

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line announced last month that for 2017 they will be offering a month-long spook-tacular with “extra scares” aboard the Carnival Imagination’s three and four-day cruises from Long Beach, California.

From October 1-31, guests sailing aboard the Carnival Imagination will enjoy a host of fun Halloween-themed activities, everything from costume contests and dance parties to bone-chilling story time with s’mores and warm cider.  Meet, mingle and compare attired with fellow guests at the Costume Meet & greet, take a Thriller dance class, or take a chance at some special casino Halloween games.

Guests can also enjoy special entertainment options such as the Halloween parade, pumpkin carving demonstrations, classic horror movies on the big screen, or a live band playing your Halloween favorites.  There will even be trick-or-treating for both kids and adults alike along the Promenade.

Carnival Imagination will be in full “haunted ship” mode with an elaborate “spooky tree” in the atrium and team members decked out in their scariest costumes.  During the cruise, guests can also partake in some spooky themed libations or sink their fangs into a variety of Halloween-themed desserts.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line offers a unique Halloween experience in typical Disney fashion on most itineraries departing late September through Halloween.  Throughout the cruise, guests can experience a number of Halloween themed activities.  Families can celebrate the season during Mickey’s Mouse-querade party, featuring games, trick-or-treating, dancing and your favorite Disney characters decked out in Halloween attire, or adults can celebrate at the adults only party, which features a costume contest.

Guests can also experience some eerie entertainment options such as Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing and Scream, an interactive movie experience followed by a meet-and-greet with Jack and Sally or take in a ghost story or two during a campfire-style storytelling experience on the ship’s deck.

This special Halloween party at sea is offered fleet-wide during select sail dates in 2017 and 2018.  For more information about their Halloween offerings and to view or book your cruise visit the Disney Cruise Line website.

While a cruise is usually seen as a summer getaway, there’s some serious appeal to taking a cruise when they’re chock full of Halloween goodness.  There’s bound to be other Halloween themed cruises out there, but these two definitely seem to be the most popular.
