Chucky is finally coming to television. Teased last summer by long-time Child’s Play writer-director Don Mancini, Deadline reports that the television series based on the Child’s Play films has finally found a home at SYFY.

The series is being developed by Mancini along with producer David Kirschner and TV writer-producer Nick Antosca. Mancini will write the adaptation for the network.

“I’ve long wanted to bring Chucky to television and Syfy is the perfect network for us,” Mancini said today. “The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”

“Chucky” will, of course, see some competition as Orion pictures prepare to reboot the Child’s Play franchise this summer, independent of the show.
