Independent studio Dusty Box has revealed its debut title, “Cult of Blood.” Inspired by a true story and twisted with dark magic, the game blends cinematic storytelling, brutal combat, and classic survival horror tension.
This survival horror adventure drops players into a hidden village ruled by a blood cult, where every step drags you closer to survival, or to becoming the final sacrifice in a priestess’s ritual to ascend as a goddess.
The story follows a police officer sent to investigate unsettling reports, uncovering a village seemingly frozen in time and cut off from the outside world. What begins as routine quickly spirals into horror as a cult devoted to a priestess, who seeks to ascend as a goddess, ensnares him. The villagers are not vampires, but humans stripped of their souls and enslaved to the cult’s will. The game is inspired by the true story of Magdalena Solรญs, a woman in 1960s Mexico who became known as the “High Priestess of Blood.” She and two accomplices founded a small cult that convinced its followers she was a reincarnated goddess, leading them into a spiral of ritual sacrifice and violence. The story is reimagined with supernatural horror, and the narrative explores the eternal fight between light and darkness, good and evil, forcing players to decide whether to destroy the cult and its queen or succumb to its ritual.
With the announcement comes the game’s first trailer, which teases fog-drenched streets, candlelit chambers, and swampy ruins, blending cinematic cutscenes with desperate melee, scarce bullets, and tense resource management. With fixed camera angles, classic-inspired tank controls, and modern refinements for aiming and dodging, “Cult of Blood” evokes the dread of “Resident Evil” while twisting it with its own ritualistic horrors.
At its core, “Cult of Blood” is about tension and choice. Ammunition is limited but not absent, healing is rare, and every encounter could be your last. Players will face grotesque enemies, scavenge resources, and collect blood souls to upgrade weapons or acquire new gear. Each step through the hidden village deepens the nightmare, culminating in a climactic showdown against the cult’s queen.
“Cult of Blood” will launch in 2026 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.
