Demo Arrives for First-Person Horror Game ‘Famished’

British indie studio SlaughterWare has officially unleashed the first playable demo for “Famished,” a first-person narrative horror experience that promises to be as funny as it is foul. Available now on Steam and itch.io, the demo offers a grotesque first look at a descent into madness ahead of its Autumn 2026 launch.

Players inhabit the shoes of Oatmeal Clutterbuck, a bullied teenager wasting away in suburban Kansas. His life goes from bleak to biological nightmare when Whispergut, an alien parasite, takes up residence in his torso. As the parasite feeds, Oatmeal is consumed by a hunger that “ordinary food” simply can’t fix.

As Oatmeal’s appetite grows beyond control, players explore familiar suburban environments twisted by dread, uncover disturbing secrets, and engage in a series of surreal and grotesque encounters. The demo introduces players to the opening chapter of this descent, combining narrative-driven exploration with experimental gameplay sequences and a deliberately unsettling atmosphere.

Presented in a retro-inspired low-poly visual style reminiscent of early 3D console horror games, “Famished” focuses on atmosphere, psychological unease, and narrative immersion over traditional action mechanics.

The full descent begins in Autumn 2026.
