Dynamite Announces ‘MonsterVision’ Series Starring Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl

Dynamite Entertainment will launch a new comic book series this December starring legendary drive-in film host Joe Bob Briggs and co-star Darcy the Mail Girl.

Written by David Avallone (“Elvira: Mistress of the Dark”) and illustrated by Edu Menna (Kiss, Vampirella), the series promises a Texas-style horror-comedy adventure packed with monster hunting, B-movie parodies, and a game-changing twist on the duo’s classic dynamic.

Avallone brings a deep affinity for pulp and camp to the project, noting the unique appeal of adapting Briggs to the comic page.

“Joe Bob looks like he’d be perfectly comfortable starring in a Western: he’s square-jawed, handsome and tall, but he channels that into something subversive,” Avallone said. “That’s something I can easily understand and get into.”

Darcy will also be featured on photo covers for the series. Issue one will also feature covers from Dave Acosta, another veteran of horror host comics, and is joined by Kewber Baal and Robert Hack with a genius homage to the heyday of horror film posters.

For collectors, Dynamite will offer special editions featuring signatures from both Briggs and Darcy, alongside mystery blind bags containing rare variants.

Briggs gained cult fame hosting “Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater” on The Movie Channel (1986–1996) and TNT’s “MonsterVision” (1996–2000) before reviving his host persona on Shudder’s “The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs” in 2018.

“MonsterVision” can be pre-ordered now from your local comic shop.
