Filming is officially underway on location in Key West, Florida, on the upcoming horror-comedy “Key of Bones: Curse of the Ghost Pirate.”
The first feature film from genre entertainment website iHorror is written and directed by Tony Armer and blends eerie folklore with playful terror, leaning into a horror-comedy tone that balances unsettling supernatural moments with character-driven humor and chaos.
At the center of the story are three unlikely characters: a Key West waitress, a ghost-tour guide, and a visiting tourist. Their paths cross when a set of washed-up, cursed coins is discovered, unknowingly triggering the return of the infamous pirate Anne Bonny. What begins as curiosity and coincidence quickly spirals into a supernatural nightmare as her ghost resurfaces in a violent spiritual awakening, unleashing mischievous spirits and long-bound entities across the island.

As the curse spreads, Key West becomes a battleground between the living and the dead—its history, legends, and restless spirits refusing to stay buried. The trio must confront the island’s haunted past before the growing chaos consumes everything around them.
The film stars Gina Vitori (“The Salem Chronicles”), Melissa Chick (“Landman”), and Jeremy King (“Scare Package”).

One of the film’s standout elements is how it intertwines real lore within its story. “Key of Bones: Curse of the Ghost Pirate” is being filmed at numerous real-life haunted locations throughout Key West, places steeped in centuries of shipwrecks, piracy, tragedy, and ghostly lore. By shooting on location, the production taps into an atmosphere that can’t be replicated on a soundstage, grounding the supernatural elements in a setting already known for its paranormal reputation.
The result is a film that feels both fun and foreboding—where spectral hijinks coexist with genuine unease, and the island’s vibrant charm clashes with the darkness lurking just beneath the surface.
