George Romero’s ‘Night of the Living Dead’ Getting an Animated Adaptation

Night of the Animated Dead title treatment

George A. Romero’s original 1968 zombie classic, “Night of the Living Dead” is being adapted into an animated feature.

The news came this week via The Hollywood Reporter, who offered up early details around the film, which is titled “Night of the Animated Dead.” The animated adaption will be directed by Jason Axinn (“To Your Last Death”) and will star Josh Duhamel as Harry Cooper, Dulé Hill as Ben, Katharine Isabelle as Barbara, James Roday Rodriguez as Tom, Katee Sackhoff as Judy, Will Sasso as Sheriff McClelland, Jimmi Simpson as Johnny and Nancy Travis as Helen Cooper.

Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” told the story of a ragtag group of Pennsylvanians who barricade themselves in an old farmhouse amidst a zombie outbreak that ravages the East Coast of the United States. The iconic film birthed the zombie genre and spawned five additional films from Romero in the series.

“Night of the Animated Dead” will be available on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital this fall from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
