Get Your First Taste of 2021 Halloween Candy from Skittles, Nerds, and M&M’s

Sure, Halloween is still six months away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting excited about the seasonal treats being released for the season. Thanks to some food loving internet sleuths we now know of at least two new candies debuting for the 2021 season and a third that’s making a return!

For 2021 Skittles appears to have given up on the novelty of its zombie-flavored Skittles, the flesh-flavored treat that made its debut back in 2019 and returned for the 2020 Halloween season. Thanks to a tip from Instagram account @candyhunting it appears Skittles has a new trick up its sleeve for Halloween 2021 with Skittles Shriekers. Like its zombie predecessor, Skittles Shriekers features extreme flavored Skittles amongst regular flavored Skittles, but this year instead of the taste of flesh, you’ll encounter some Skittles that “are so sour they will make you shriek!”

Despite being America’s most hated candy, candy corn is getting yet another take for 2021, this time from Nerds. Thanks again to @candyhunting, we now know that new Nerds Candy Corn will make their debut this Halloween season. The latest attempt to make candy corn palatable appears to be a similar concept to Big Chewy Nerds, which feature a soft chewy center and crunchy outer shell, however, the Nerds Candy Corn appears to have a smooth outer layer versus a bumpy outer layer that similar Nerds products have been known for.

Finally, Best Products reported earlier this month that Cookies & Screeem M&M’s will be making their return for the 2021 Halloween season. The candy first made its debut in 2017 and mixed dark chocolate and white chocolate with a speckled candy shell to create a cookies and cream flavored treat.

The 2021 Cookies & Screeem packaging seems to suggest that there may have been a slight adjustment to the candy’s formula as it simply says “chocolate & white chocolate candies,” they also appear to have traded in their speckled candy shells for more traditional Halloween colored shells of black, white, and orange.

What’s not clear at this point is if the return of Cookies & Screeem M&M’s means that the Creepy Cocoa Crips M&M’s that have been out for the last few Halloween season’s will be retired or if both flavors will be available in 2021.

It’s still early in the year so more Halloween candy is sure to be revealed in the coming months, but it’s exciting to get our first taste of new treats for 2021.
