Halloween ComicFest Ditches Comics for Collectibles for 2020 Event

Halloween ComicFest, the comic book industry’s premiere Halloween event is moving forward for 2020, albeit, without any comics. Despite a successful Free Comic Book Summer event, Halloween ComicFest will instead focus exclusively on merchandise and collectibles.

Taking place at comic book shops across the U.S. on Saturday, October 31, 2020, Halloween ComicFest 2020 will feature an expanded line of PREVIEWS Exclusive figures from a variety of vendors including Funko, Diamond Select Toys, Hiya Toys, and Cryptozoic. This year’s selection of exclusive figures boasts something for each kind of fan. With characters ranging from Marvel to Robocop, to Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Cthulhu, fans and collectors alike will be thrilled to get their hands on these extremely limited collectibles.

Of the six PREVIEWS exclusive collectibles being released there are three in particular All Hallows Geek readers will likely be interested in.

First, Diamond Select Toys is releasing a PREVIEWS Exclusive Graduation Day Buffy Vinimate. Inspired by the Graduation Day episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” this exclusive Vinimate features Buffy in her iconic red trench coat. Measuring aproximately four inches tall, this vinyl figure has an articulated neck for additional posing options and comes packaged in a full-color window box. The figure is limited to 1,000 pieces and will cost $9.99.

Cthulhu fans are in for a double dose of collectible fun with two different exclusive Cthulhu Cryptkins figures.

First, is the PREVIEWS Exclusive Forgotten Idol Cthulhu, a figure variant that pays homage to the many ancient Cthulhu statues in Lovecraftian lore. Sculpted by Sam Greenwell, this version of the figure features haunting dark green paint with weathered brown accents to show that this little guy has been around since the beginning of time!

The second Cthulhu figure is the PREVIEWS Exclusive Irradiated Cthulhu, which features bright glow-in-the-dark green vinyl, implying that Cthulhu has absorbed radiation, making him more powerful.

Both 5-inch figures were sculpted by Sam Greenwell and comes packaged in a window box with an “Exclusive Species” foil sticker. Both the Irradiated Cthulhu and Forgotten Idol Cthulhu figures are variants of the regular Cryptkins Unleashed vinyl figure, part of Cryptozoic’s original collectibles line inspired by creatures that have been the subject of folklore and tabloid headlines for decades. Each figure costs $14.99.
