HGTV Announces The Return of ‘Scariest House in America’

Retta

Actress and comedian Retta will continue her search for the country’s most spine-tingling properties with the season two return of “Scariest House in America.” The star of HGTV’s “Ugliest House in America” will return for six new episodes of the popular spinoff with the season premiere slated for September 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

The series, which attracted more than 8.3 million viewers to its freshman season, will follow Retta as she travels the U.S. to tour 15 more petrifyingly paranormal or horrifically hideous houses whose owners say are haunted by scary stories and hair-raising sights. This season, the frightening finds will include a former funeral home with a basement morgue, a house situated on a graveyard, and a property that resembles a witch’s hatโ€”all of which are haunted by spooky shadows, flickering lights, and strange noises.

In each episode, Retta will share hilariously unfiltered views about each home’s scary appearance, unlivability, and fright factor. HGTV will ultimately deem one house the “scariest” of them all and award the homeowners a $150,000 renovation by popular network designer Alison Victoria in a one-hour season finale.

โ€œ(sigh) What can I say?,โ€ said Retta. “We’re back hunting down scary houses. Another season of uneasy sleep for yours truly. I hope you all enjoy!”

The September 19 season premiere will highlight eerie homes in the East, from a centuries-old, ghost-filled Maryland estate, to a historic haunted house in Connecticut with a creepy attic and an 1800s Georgia jail offering unexplained sights and sounds.

The first season of “Scariest House in America” is available to binge-watch now on HBO Max and discovery+. Additionally, each new episode of “Scariest House in America” will be available to stream the next day on HBO Max and discovery+โ€”Saturdays beginning September 20.
