On Saturday, Knott’s Scary Fam closed out the day’s panels and presentations in the Grand Ballroom at Midsummer Scream by announcing the final year for two of its mazes. The panel was moderated by Knott’s Scary Farm Associate Producer Pasta Berkey, who was joined on stage by Park Decor Manager Jeff Shadic, Creative Designer Jon Asperin, and Creative Designer Daniel Miller.
The Grimoire
The first maze announced that 2025 will be its last year is The Grimoire. Introduced in 2022, The Grimoire centers around an ancient book that transports you to the various dark moments in its history. The announcement was paired with several anecdotes about the creation of the maze and behind-the-scenes images.
Mesmer
The second maze that will be retired in 2025 is Mesmer. Introduced in 2021, Mesmer has become a fan favorite for its hypnotic theme of madness, torture, and eerie enlightenment. During the panel, Miller shared some details about the creation of the maze, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the maze, which allowed them more time to develop the attraction’s storyline and enabled an entire team to work exclusively on this one attraction.
This is the second year in a row that announcements from Knott’s have been light, especially for a theme park that draws a full house each year at Midsummer Scream. The shift in announcement strategy seems to correlate with Knott’s Scary Farm’s Nightmares Revealed event, which is held at the theme park each year and is where the park makes most of its announcements.
Knott’s closed out its panel with an appearance by drag stars The Boulet Brothers, who announced they would be co-hosting this year’s Nightmares Revealed event on August 19, 2025.
Knott’s Scary Farm returns on select Nights, September 18 through November 1, 2025. Tickets are on sale now.
