Knott’s Scary Farm Announces Returning Mazes for 2021 & Teases New Maze

On Thursday, Knott’s Scary Farm took to social media to announce its returning maze lineup for the 2021 Halloween season. The theme park announced the return of seven fan-favorite mazes and teased an all-new maze for 2021.

Pumpkin Eater

Returning for its fourth year, this murderous nursery rhyme inspired maze will again take guests back to colonial times where they’ll face the terrifying world of a serial killer and must escape the wrath of a murderous seven-foot-tall creature that haunts the woods surrounding The Hollow.

Origins: The Curse of Calico

Origins: The Curse of Calico made its debut in 2019 and is returning for 2021. The maze is inspired by the beginnings of Knott’s Scary Farm and is what maze designer Jon Cooke has referred to as a “love letter to the history of this event.” The backstory of the maze is built upon Knott’s Scary Farm’s origins in Ghost Town and the witch hanging shows performed in the 1980s. Guests enter the maze and watch as the witch’s curse takes over the Calico townsfolk and then experience the mystery of the Calico witch as it unravels.

Dark Entities

In its third year, Dark Entities will again take guests into the depths of space to face the extraterrestrial mutation invading a lone space station.

The Depths

Another third-year maze, The Depths, will return for 2021 and will again send guests into the underground caves of a seaside town where terrifying horrors are said to lurk and where the Nightwatch Mining Crew vanished.

Dark Ride

Dark Ride returns for its fourth Scary Farm season. The fan-favorite maze saw some significant enhancements in 2019 with the addition of an interactive control room and gift shop exit scene, so it’ll be interesting to see what Knott’s has in store for 2021.

Wax Works

Another maze that only saw one season before the COVID-19 shutdown was Wax Works. Introduced as the first new maze of 2019, Wax Works takes guests into an eerie abandoned wax museum where once-prominent plastic surgeon Dr. Agustus Scratch turns his victims into his latest works of art.

Paranormal Inc.

Now in its sixth year, Paranormal Inc. will again take guests into Hayden Hill Sanitarium, where they’ll be part of a paranormal investigation show when things go horribly wrong, and the veil between the living and the dead is lifted.

Following its 2019 season, Knott’s Scary Farm would have two maze slots to fill. 2019 marked the final year for fan-favorite Shadow Lands and zombie shoot ’em up experience Special Ops Infected. Since the 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19, 2021 will be the first year to fill those vacancies. At the end of its returning maze reveal video, Knott’s teased a new maze with audio of a carnival barker inviting folks to “come see the freaks,” followed by the Knott’s Scary Farm conductor entering a large carnival or circus tent.

The video’s description lists out all of the returning mazes for 2021, which are followed by, “But what terrors await you inside the tent? 🎪 Stay tuned…” suggesting that a new maze could be in store for next week’s reveal.

Knott’s Berry Farm has been releasing new information about its annual Halloween event each Thursday since July 15. Past reveals have included its returning scare zones, an all-new scare zone called Gore-ing 20’s, and its 2021 show lineup.

Knott’s Scary Farm returns on select dates September 16 – October 31. Tickets go on sale Monday, August 16 at 10 AM. For more information, visit knotts.com/scaryfarm.
