Long Beach Film Festival Announces ‘Nightmares on 4th Street’ Short Film Block

Late-night horror and dark comedy are taking over the Art Theatre of Long Beach on Aug. 29 as the Long Beach Film Festival debuts its “Nightmares on 4th Street” short film block.

Beginning at 9 p.m., the 90-minute screening features eight horror and dark comedy short films. Headlining the showcase is “A Man Apart,” starring Will Forte (“The Last Man on Earth”) in a comedic showdown with Death, alongside the Emmy Award-winning horror short “Roomtone.”

The curated block brings together eight wildly different shorts:

  • “A Man Apart” – A dark comedy starring Will Forte confronting Death.
  • “Roomtone” – An Emmy-winning short exploring sound and suspense.
  • “Midnight Movie Club” – A late-night view party turns fatal.
  • “Matches” – A modern dating app transforms into a cutthroat competition.
  • “Help” – A creature feature blurring the boundary between romance and monsters.
  • “The Seeing Eye Dog Who Saw Too Much” – A comedic, suspense-filled canine thriller.
  • “Park Boys” – A cautionary tale detailing the dark side of YouTube culture.
  • “Prime” – A sharp satire probing a trendy wellness craze turned sinister cult.

The showcase is a part of the broader Long Beach Film Festival, running Aug. 28–30. The three-day event kicks off Friday evening aboard the historic Queen Mary and features events throughout Long Beach, with all screenings taking place at the Art Theatre.

Single-block tickets and full weekend festival passes are available now on the festival’s official website.
