Mezco Toyz brought plenty of Living Dead Dolls fun to San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, during its annual MezcoCon online reveal, showcasing a terrifying new lineup for its LDD Presents series—and dropping a cryptic hint many believe is about the main line’s future.
Horror fans got an early look at upcoming figures inspired by “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” HBO’s “IT: Welcome to Derry,” and Rob Zombie’s “House of 1000 Corpses.”
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Mezco kicked off the event with an early look at LDD Presents Jack Skellington and Sally. Sally retains the classic, stylized Living Dead Dolls proportions, while Jack trades the standard baby-doll mold for a slimmer, more skeletal frame tailored to his iconic silhouette.
IT: Welcome to Derry
Pennywise returns in a fresh prototype based on his appearance in HBO’s prequel series. Moving away from the synthetic red hair seen in previous LDD releases, this version features a fully sculpted hairstyle. The bloody clown suit features ruffle detailing and is paired with his signature red balloon.
House of 1000 Corpses
Rob Zombie’s iconic killer Captain Spaulding, originally portrayed by the late Sid Haig, is joining the roster. Outfitted in his classic red, white, and blue ringmaster suit and top hat, the doll pairs a baby-faced mold with a beard for a distinctly unsettling look.
Beyond the licensed reveals, the biggest stir came from a cryptic post featuring an image of a coffin bearing the Living Dead Dolls logo above three unmarked graves. Text on the image reads “Three” over “666” and “Exhumed Two Zero Two” over another “666.”
While no other details were announced, fans were rampant with speculation in the comments, with some believing the “Three” above “666” means series 36 and the “Two Zero Two” above another “666” means 2026, suggesting a release later this year. Others speculate that “Exhumed” suggests a new Resurrection series of dolls that brings back past characters with new looks or motifs.
The last official numbered Living Dead Dolls series launched in 2018 for the brand’s 20th anniversary. While Mezco expanded into the upgraded “Return of the Living Dead Dolls” format in 2023, fans have eagerly awaited news on the original line.
As with most MezcoCon reveals, pricing and release dates have not yet been announced. Expect full details and pre-orders to drop in the coming months.
