Official Trailer Arrives for Damian McCarthy’s ‘Hokum’

Neon has released the official trailer for the upcoming horror film “Hokum,” the latest project from writer-director Damian McCarthy (“Oddity”). The film is slated for a wide theatrical release on May 1, 2026.

The film stars Adam Scott (“Severance”) as Ohm Bauman, a novelist who retreats to a remote inn in Ireland to scatter his parents’ ashes. His quest for closure takes a macabre turn as he becomes consumed by local lore involving a witch haunting the honeymoon suite. Between disturbing visions and a sudden, shocking disappearance, Bauman is forced to confront the dark corners of his own history.

Rounding out ensemble cast are Peter Coonan (“King Frankie”), David Wilmot (“Station Eleven”), Florence Ordesh (“Departure”), Michael Patric (“Frontier”), Will O’Connell (“Game of Thrones”), Brendan Conroy (“That They May Face the Rising Sun”), and Austin Amelio (“Fear the Walking Dead”).

The trailer arrives just in time for the film’s World Premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas, this weekend. Given McCarthy’s track record for practical effects and slow-burn dread, “Hokum” is already positioned as one of the festival’s must-watch titles.
