Katanalevy and Oro Interactive have announced the launch of the first public demo for their upcoming survival horror game, “Dead Format,” which is now available on Steam.

“Dead Dormat” is a survival horror game that takes you on a nightmarish journey through iconic eras of film. Set in 1990s Scotland, you play as a desperate sibling searching for their missing brother, who was last seen obsessing over a mysterious VHS format. Dive into the tapes, fight your way through cinematic worlds, and find your brother before it’s too late.

The demo allows you to explore two VHS tapes, a 30s silent era horror and an 80s body horror (drawing inspiration from “Alien” and “The Thing”), each a twisted world inspired by its respective era and brought to life with original mixed media.

Everything in “Dead Format” is created exclusively for the game, including the VHS footage, which is recorded and edited by developer Katanalevy to give each tape an authentic, era-specific look.

Between tapes, your apartment is your only safe space where you can catch your breath, study clues, and piece together the sinister mystery behind your brother’s disappearance.

Alongside the demo, Oro Interactive has released a new trailer, teasing the atmosphere players can expect in the full game coming later in 2025. Check it out below:
