Players Will Take on the Role of Vecna in ‘Stranger Things VR’ Arriving in 2023

Netflix has announced a new VR experience based on “Stranger Things,” and you’ll play as season four baddie Vecna. The news came as part of Netflix’s Stranger Things Day announcements on Sunday.

The new game, which is expected to be released in the winter of 2023, is being developed by Tender Claws, who describes the experience as follows:

“Play as Vecna. Become an explorer of unknown realities as you form the hive mind and tame the void. Invade minds and conjure nightmares in your quest to enact revenge on Eleven and Hawkins.”

Vecna was the main antagonist in “Stranger Things 4.” Played by Jamie Campbell Bower, the character is what remains of Henry Creel, also revealed to be subject 001, who was vanquished to the Upside Down by Eleven after he massacred all of his fellow test subjects at Hawkins National Laboratory. “Stranger Things 4” concluded with Vecna opening a gate from the Upside Down, destroying much of Hawkins. The disaster will be the stepping-off point for the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things,” which is currently in pre-production.
