Paramount+ has announced that “Scary Movie,” the sixth installment and reboot of the “Scary Movie” franchise, will begin streaming exclusively on Paramount+ starting Sept. 3.
Arriving 13 years after the last entry and 26 years after the original film, the franchise reboot reunites the original core cast: creators Marlon and Shawn Wayans as Shorty and Ray, and Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell, alongside Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks.
The core four find themselves back in a masked killer’s crosshairs. This time, the satire targets the modern horror landscape, taking aim at requels, prequels, elevated horror, and cash-grab legacy sequels.
Returning franchise alumni Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, and Chris Elliott join the cast, alongside series newcomers Kenan Thompson, Kim Wayans, Damon Wayans Jr., Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Cameron Scott Roberts, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Benny Zielke, and Ruby Snowber.
The film grossed over $230 million globally during its theatrical run earlier this year. While critics panned the film’s reliance on self-referential callbacks, fan reception proved far more favorable, driven by nostalgia and the franchise’s signature unfiltered humor.
