Buffalo8 has announced the North American VOD release of “The Hive,” the debut feature from writer-director Jared Allmond.
The film stars Timothy Haug and Christie Griffin as Albie and Penny, a young couple with a failing marriage, trying to rekindle the fire by having a night out alone. But their marital issues have to take a backseat when they return home to find armed strangers in their home. With no help from their neighbors or law enforcement, they attempt to get evidence of the intrusion. The relationship drama builds to a science fiction thriller as the pair must put their issues aside to survive the sadistic strangers whose origins are not what they seem.
“My hope is for the viewer to observe the dark places Albie and Penny trudge through and in an ideal world be able to say, ‘well, my relationship doesn’t seem so bad,'” says Allmond. “But perhaps the viewer isn’t far from the situation Albie and Penny find themselves to be in. Whatever the case, the story resides within a thrilling landscape that will stick with the viewer, serving as an admonishing tale, resonating with them for years to come.”
Rounding out the film’s cast are Miles Taber, Julianne Ruck, Whitney Reade, and Mark Norwood.
“The Hive” will arrive on Cable and Digital VOD on October 27, including Prime Video, Vudu, Vubiquity, Cox, and Comcast.
