Horror multi-hyphenate Sean Keller is reviving his beloved spooky season music project with the fifth installment of his holiday series: “The Killer Sounds of Halloween Rises from the Grave!”
Dropping Oct. 1 on Bandcamp, the album features fresh cover art by comic book artist Keenan Marshall Keller (Sean’s brother) and a tracklist of original songs performed by fictitious bands. Keller teased that the release features “plenty of returning guests and a few new ones!”
Past collaborators on the series include horror favorites like Amanda Wyss (“A Nightmare on Elm Street”), filmmaker Gigi Saul Guerrero (“Satanic Hispanics”), Shannon Purser (“Stranger Things”), and director Chelsea Stardust (“Satanic Panic”), who is also Keller’s wife.
Keller initially teased the project on the By Pumpkin’s Light podcast back in May before sharing behind-the-scenes updates on Instagram throughout the summer.
The project originated in 2019 while Keller was assembling his annual Halloween mixtape. What started as recording cover tracks in the style of distinct bands—like TV on the Radio’s “Wolf Like Me” in the style of Love & Rockets—morphed into creating entire albums of original “lost songs” across various genres and eras, complete with fake band personas.
