Some of Your Favorite Horror Score Composers Are Coming Together for a Panel at Midsummer Scream

Composers of the Apocalypse

Midsummer Scream, the world’s largest Halloween and horror convention, returns to the Long Beach Convention Center July 29-31, 2022, and this week the convention announced another one of this year’s panels: Composers of the Apocalypse.

The all-new panel will take place on the Midsummer Scream main stage on Sunday, July 31, and will be a 90-minute presentation featuring some of the composers that birthed some of your favorite horror scores and themes. The panel, which Michael Kolence of Grimm Life Collective is moderating, will explore the history, process, and musical challenges behind some of the most iconic horror film soundtracks of all time.

Joining Michael on stage will be John Massari (“Killer Klowns From Outer Space”), Harry Manfredini (The “Friday the 13th” franchise, “The Swamp Thing,” “House”), Holly Amber Church (“Open 24 Hours,” “Ruin Me,” “Dark Light”), Alan Howarth (“Halloween 2-6,” “Christine,” “They Live”), Richard Band (“Re-Animator,” “Troll,” “Ghoulies”), and Christopher Young (“Hellraiser,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street 2,” “Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities”).

As a bonus, John Massari will be performing live the “Killer Klowns March.” Sonic composer Alan Howarth will also perform a 10-minute live montage of synchronized video from Halloween II, III, IV, “Escape From New York,” “Prince of Darkness,” “The Thing,” “They Live,” “Retribution,” and “Hoax!”

This is a can’t miss panel for both music fans and horror enthusiasts, so make sure you have your tickets for Midsummer Scream when it returns for its fifth year this July at the Long Beach Convention Center. Single-day, weekend, and Gold Bat VIP passes are still available. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit MidsummerScream.org.
