Survival Horror Game ‘Victim Complex’ Arrives as Part of Steam Scream Fest

Indie studio 5ive Bullet Games just dropped a free demo for its debut major release, “Victim Complex,” as part of Steam’s fourth annual Steam Scream Fest. The demo arrived Monday, joining a lineup of spooky, creepy, and dark games being showcased and discounted as part of the Halloween and horror-themed event.

“Victim Complex” throws players into a terrifying survival horror experience as Jack Lognare, a man whose lucrative but bogus career as a ghost hunter is about to get terrifyingly real. Jack has always made a living by filming “investigations” in allegedly haunted buildings, where his meters conveniently never find anything. But during his latest gig at an abandoned apartment complex, his equipment starts reacting for real. Suddenly, it’s no longer an easy job—real spirits are haunting the halls, and Jack must now put all his “fake” skills to the test if he wants to survive.

“Victim Complex” challenges players to explore the buildings to uncover the rich, interwoven stories of those who’ve died there. Each death leaves clues to discover who these people were and what happened to them, all while trying to save your own life. Each spirit needs something different to find peace, and only by understanding their stories can you know how to react to them.

Expect a tense atmosphere and thrilling horror gameplay. Seeing is crucial, but risky: there’s no way to see without your flashlight, but using it exposes you to a dark presence that stalks the apartment complex’s halls. Players must carefully balance illumination with stealth, exploring the rooms without drawing unwanted attention. Use your limited ghost-hunting tools to gather critical information and strategically plan your every move.

The demo for “Victim Complex” is available now via Steam, where you can also wishlist the game to be notified of its full release.
