Teaser for SFX Nightmare ‘Wounds’ Arrives Ahead of Its Screamfest World Premiere

Filmmaker Ron Kraus has announced that Screamfest LA will host the World Premiere of “Wounds,” his latest feature starring Jack Kilmer (“The Nice Guys”) and Paris Jackson (“One Spoon of Chocolate”). The psychological thriller also stars Eric Roberts (“The Dark Knight”), Lambert Houston (“Resurrection Factor”), Renata Notni (“Zorro”), Richie Radichi (“My Best Friend’s Dead”), and Rufus Dorsey (“Ali”).

“Wounds” explores obsession, morality, and the dangerous allure of artistic ambition, examining how creativity can both inspire and consume. Shot entirely on 35mm film, it is described as a love letter to the indie horror genre, in the spirit of auteur directors such as De Palma, Cronenberg, and Carpenter.

The film follows Caleb Castle (Kilmer), a horror-obsessed special effects makeup artist struggling to prove himself while working at a fading horror studio. With the studio on the verge of collapse, Caleb gets to work on a low-budget vampire movie where he meets Ginny Brown (Jackson), a talented fellow makeup artist. Desperate to prove himself, Caleb witnesses a brutal murder, which inspires him to use extreme, horrific measures to make his special effects look chillingly realistic.

A teaser for the film arrived alongside the premiere announcement. “Wounds” makes its world premiere at Screamfest on Oct. 8 at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
