The Cinematographer from ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street 3’ Has Recreated a Scene from the Film Using the iPhone 11 Pro

There has been a big push from Apple to showcase the video capabilities of the iPhone 11 Pro. Last month they made quite an impression on the pop music world when Selena Gomez released a music video for her new single “Lose You To Love Me,” which was shot entirely on the iPhone. Now VideoVillagePro has put the phone to the test recreating an entire scene from A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors using an iPhone 11 Pro with the help of Roy Wagner and Shane Kelly – the original Director of Photography and Gaffer for the film.

For the experiment, the crew tackled the boiler room scene from the beginning of the film, with Taylor Kalupa taking on the role of Kristen Parker, originally played by Patricia Arquette. You can watch the scene play out in the video below, which is followed by a side by side comparison with the original film.

Originally shot on 35mm, it’s amazing to see how far technology has come in 30 years. In fact, I felt like some of the scenes actually looked better because they weren’t as dark. What did you think of the recreation?

VideoVillagePro also released a behind the scenes video that shows in detail how they recreated the classic Dream Warriors scene and for you aspiring filmmakers, they even share some of the equipment and software used to create it.
