‘The Haunting of Hill House’ Renewed as Anthology, Next Installment Takes Us To Bly Manor

The Haunting of Bly Manor

Netflix and the creators of “The Haunting of Hill House” have inked an overall deal to bring the series back for a second season, but there’s a bit of a catch. The next “season” will actually be an installment in what they are now calling “The Haunting” anthology.

The first installment of the show was supposed to be a limited series that was based on Shirley Jackson’s novel “The Haunting of Hill House,” with a second installment being developed the creators are turning to Henry James’ 1898 horror novella “The Turn of the Screw,” as the source material for “The Haunting of Bly Manor.”

“The Turn of the Screw” tells the story of a governess hired to look after a pair of orphaned siblings at a country estate, but shortly after her arrival, she begins to see figures around the grounds she doesn’t recognize. Soon she comes to believe the figures are supernatural and that the children are aware of their presence, a knowledge that in the end may have dire consequences.

“The Haunting of Bly Manor” is set to debut in 2020.
