Third Installment in Horror Anthology Series ‘Tales from the Woods’ to Make Its North American Debut at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival

Earlier this year, the horror anthology series “Tales from the Woods” made its US debut at Fantastic Fest, showcasing Mattie Do’s “The Sleeping Beauty” and Moorhead and Benson’s “Jacques the Giant Slayer.” This Thursday, as part of the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, those two films will be joined by a third installment: “Cinderella” from “Daniel Isn’t Real” director Adam Egypt Mortimer, marking the first time that all three shorts in the anthology will play together.

The trio of shorts in the “Tales from the Woods” anthology will screen as part of the festival’s short film program on October 23, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the Arrow Video Theater.

Mortimer’s take on the classic tale of “Cinderella” takes place on a planet ravaged by toxins. In a kingdom ruled by fear, Cinderella makes a pact with the haunted woods to meet the Prince and to bring retribution to his fortress.

The cast for “Cinderella” includes Zolee Griggs (“The Enforcer”), Miles Robbins (“Daniel Isn’t Real”), and Dylan Gelula (“Smile 2”).

“Tales from the Woods” is the latest horror anthology series from Wayward Entertainment partner and producer John Hegeman, whose previous projects include “Holidays” and Hulu’s “Into the Dark.” It reimagines the dark origins of the world’s most beloved fairy tales with some of today’s boldest voices in independent film from around the world at the helm. Wayward Entertainment will be making upcoming announcements regarding the continued festival rollout and 2026 streaming launch of their horror series Tales from the Woods.
