2019 has been an unusually good year for new Halloween music. Earlier in the season I shared Sean Keller’s “The Killer Sounds of Halloween,” then there was Sam Haynes’ synth-driven “Darkwaves” album and then, of course, the release of Christina Aguilera’s new song from The Addams Family. Now I’ve discovered yet another new release for the Halloween season from a project called LOVECRAFT.
LOVECRAFT is a collaboration between seven Halloween-obsessed songwriters, producers, and friends who in the past have turned out hits for artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, Britney Spears and the like. But don’t let their pop pedigree scare you away, the album, titled “This Is Halloween Volume 1,” features a diverse mix of original songs that are sure to please Halloween party-goers from all zombie walks of life.
In addition to the nine original Halloween tracks, LOVECRAFT also tackled two cover songs that have been re-imagined to have a spooky vibe (Kim Wilde’s “Kids In America” and Backstreet Boys “As Long As You Love Me”).
LOVECRAFT is masterminded by Lil Punkin (Evan “Kidd” Bogart), Deepkutz (MNDR), Norman Crates (Peter Wade), Scary Ana Grande (Sarah Barrios), Ghost M’lone (Scott “Babydaddy” Hoffman), Count Trackula (Justin Gray) and DejaVudu (Romell). The album is available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Tidal, and Pandora.
