A24 has debuted the official trailer for its psychosexual pop thriller, “Mother Mary,” starring Anne Hathaway (“Les Misรฉrables”) and Michaela Coel (“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”).
From writer/director David Lowery (“A Ghost Story”), the film centers on iconic pop star Mother Mary (Hathaway). Long-buried wounds rise to the surface when she reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer, Sam Anselm (Coel), on the eve of her comeback performance.
The cast also features Hunter Schafer (“Euphoria”), FKA Twigs (“The Crow” 2024), Atheena Frizzell (“The Green Knight”), Kaia Gerber (“Bottoms”), Jessica Brown Findlay (“Brave New World”), Isaura Barbรฉ-Brown (“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”), Alba Baptista (“Warrior Nun”), and Sian Clifford (“Fleabag”).
The trailer hints that something darker is at play with Mother Mary. “You think there’s something inside you?” Sam asks Mother Mary in the trailer, “Let’s cast her out together.” We then see flashes of sรฉances and other dark moments amid concert footage.
“Mother Mary” is slated to arrive in Spring 2026. The film also features original music from Charli XCX, Jack Antonoff, and FKA Twigs.
