Untold Tales has teamed up with Atlas V, Fishing Cactus, 3DAR, and ARTE France to bring the wonderfully grim story of “Gloomy Eyes” to life as a single-player “self-co-op” cozy horror adventure, coming to PC and consoles later this year.
Originally conceived and released by 3DAR, AtlasV, and ARTE in 2019 as a VR movie/experience narrated by Colin Farrell, “Gloomy Eyes” received widespread acclaim and numerous awards for its openly Tim Burton-inspired visual style, innovative technology, and charmingly grim narrative.
At the heart of “Gloomy Eyes” are Gloomy, a sweet zombie boy, and Nena, a mischievous human girl, who defy the rules of their world and elders by teaming up to embark on a journey to bring back the sun, which left after getting fed up with humanity’s stupidity, plunging the world into a bitter darkness where the living and the undead are locked in endless squabbles.
In the new video game experience, players alternate between Gloomy and Nena as they embark on a journey to bring sunlight back to the world. Each character has unique abilities and notable weaknesses, so they’ll need to work together to overcome the world’s many obstacles.
Each level is a stunning, handcrafted rotatable diorama, overflowing with visual macabre charm and ghoulishly delightful details. Explore these miniature worlds from multiple angles as you uncover secrets, solve puzzles, and play out a story of a love that should never be.
“Gloomy Eyes” will be released later this year on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A free demo showcasing the first opening levels is now available on PC via Steam.
