[WATCH] Lionsgate Releases Twisted Opening Scene to New ‘Saw’ Film ‘Spiral’

“Spiral: From the Book of Saw” hits theaters on Friday, and ahead of its release Lionsgate has released the film’s opening scene, which also happens to include the first new trap.

The three-minute opening scene finds Detective Boswick, played by Dan Petronijevic, falling into the hands of the film’s Jigsaw copycat killer. Elements of the scene were revealed previously in the film’s trailers, but this gives us our first full look at the gruesome torture we are used to seeing in a saw film. After his capture, we learn that Detective Boswick is a bit of a dirty cop who has railroaded several innocent people in court through bogus testimony. Now he’s left with a choice: Rip out his tongue so he can’t tell any more lies or get railroaded himself by the oncoming train, which is soon to arrive at his location.

What choice does he make? I don’t want to spoil it for you, so you’ll just have to watch the scene for yourself:

“Spiral: From the Book of Saw” will premiere exclusively in theaters this Friday, May 14.
