90s Survival Horror Homage ‘Alisa’ Arriving on Game Consoles in February

Publisher and porting studio Top Hat Studios, Inc. and developer Casper Croes have announced the worldwide console release of the 90s survival horror homage, “Alisa.” The game will launch on February 6, 2024, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox family of consoles.

“Alisa” is a classic 90s-style horror-themed action-adventure game set in a 1920s-inspired fantasy universe. You play as an Elite Royal Agent named Alisa who, while chasing a wanted criminal, ends up in an old Victorian mansion. Haunted by the mansion’s strange, mechanized, doll-like inhabitants and trapped in an upside-down world, Alisa has only one priority: survival and escape.

First released on PC in 2020, “Alisa” has become a favorite among retro, low-poly, and survival horror enthusiasts. The game is a genuine throwback to original PlayStation and Nintendo 64-style gaming – complete with pre-rendered backgrounds, 480p resolution, and fixed camera angles.

Initially developed in Unity 5 – a nearly decade-old version of the popular engine, “Alisa” required several engine and technological innovations to make the game compatible with modern console systems. The game runs faithfully to the original on all platforms, and the port team is proud of the end result. The console version of the game, referred to as “This Developer’s Cut,” contains all updates and new content previously added to the PC version, as well as numerous fixes and quality-of-life optimizations. The console port will also give players a choice between classic tank controls or modern control styles for player comfort.
