‘Fear of Sleep’: Indie Horror Led by AAA Artist Konrad Honey Announced

Signal Decay Games has officially announced “Fear of Sleep,” a debut sci-fi survival horror title that has already garnered significant buzz following its Steam Next Fest demo. Led by Konrad Honey—a veteran AAA artist with credits on “Call of Duty” and “Alien”—the project represents a stark departure from the guided experiences of big-budget gaming.

In “Fear of Sleep,” players descend into the MetroBunker, a sprawling subterranean shelter built in the shadow of war. You step into the chassis of Roy, an R0-1 maintenance android, tasked with navigating collapsing infrastructure and cryptic interludes while grotesque creatures stalk the dark. With a looming breach threatening the facility, your directive is simple: return to your maker before it’s too late.

Honey is utilizing his high-level industry experience to strip away the safety nets players have come to expect. Ditching the modern trend of guided experiences, “Fear of Sleep” throws players into the deep end with a no-hand-holding philosophy that strips away tutorials and objective markers in favor of raw, organic learning. Success isn’t handed to you; it’s earned through a player-investigated narrative where the story is meticulously pieced together from environmental clues.

This sense of agency extends to a deep physics manipulation system where weight and momentum govern every interaction. Combat is equally cerebral and brutal, featuring multi-use weapon utility—where tools like wrenches and firearms double as essential gear for traversal and puzzle-solving—and visceral gore that ensures every strike has a dynamic, bone-crunching impact.

The demo for “Fear of Sleep” is currently available on Steam, where players can now add the game to their Wishlist.
