Back in 2024, Warner Bros. teased fans with the announcement of a Japan-set Scooby-Doo anime series, then titled “Go-Go Mystery Machine.” Nearly two years later, the project has officially received the green light at Tubi under a new name: “Yokoso Scooby-Doo!”
The upcoming project marks the franchise’s first-ever official anime series. It will center on fan-favorites Scooby-Doo and Shaggy, with longtime voice actors Frank Welker and Matthew Lillard reprising their iconic roles. “Yokoso Scooby-Doo!” will stream exclusively on Tubi in North America, with an international release slated for Cartoon Network.
“Yokoso Scooby-Doo!” follows Scooby and Shaggy on the ultimate foodie adventure in Japan. Naturally, things go awry when the duo unwittingly unleashes hundreds of mythical monsters across the country. To save the day, they’ll have to team up with a brand-new crew that includes Scooby’s uncle, Daisuke-Doo, a magical girl named Yume, and a gadget whiz named Takumi. Together, the group embarks on a chaotic, monster-chasing mystery across Japan.
“‘Scooby-Doo’ is one of the most beloved franchises in entertainment, and ‘Yokoso Scooby-Doo!’ lets us reinvent it in a way fans haven’t seen before,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer at Tubi. “By bringing Scooby and Shaggy into a bold anime world set in Japan, we’re connecting with global fandoms and delivering the kind of fun, chaotic mystery that travels across generations.”
The series keeps the franchise’s legendary voice talent intact. Welker has been a cornerstone of the franchise since its 1969 debut as the original voice of Fred Jones in “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!,” and has been the voice of Scooby-Doo for over two decades. Lillard, who iconically played Shaggy in the early-2000s live-action “Scooby-Doo” films, has since become the definitive animated voice for the character.
“Yokoso Scooby-Doo!” is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation, with animation production services provided by acclaimed Japanese studio OLM (“Pokémon”). The series will be directed by Itsuro Kawasaki (“Sengoku Basara”) with Francisco Paredes serving as Co-Producer.
