A new Vampire: The Masquerade video game was announced over the weekend from publisher Kwalee and indie developer FLYOS. Titled Vampire: The Masquerade — Eternal Whispers, the upcoming project will bring the iconic World of Darkness universe into a mature, narrative-driven CRPG that ditches traditional combat encounters entirely in favor of deep psychological choice.
“With Eternal Whispers, our ambition is to deliver an atmospheric CRPG that sits at the crossroads of classic role-playing games and modern narrative experiences such as Disco Elysium,” says Gary Paitre, Co-Founder and Creative Director at FLYOS. “We want to create a game where personal horror, exploration, and meaningful choices are just as important as atmosphere and storytelling.”
The game is set in a dark, modern Montreal consumed by political intrigue, buried secrets, and personal horror. Players take on the role of Gabe, a vampire awakened from decades of torpor with fractured memories. Guided by Sam, a reluctant Thin-Blood, what begins as a standard hunt for a rogue ghoul spirals into a dangerous conspiracy tied to the Temple of Eternal Whispers—a vast underground cathedral built in devotion to a forbidden faith.
As you investigate your forgotten past, you will uncover disturbing truths about the Sabbat faction. Your awakening sets long-forgotten forces into motion, threatening to reshape Montreal’s undead society forever. Ultimately, players will have to decide: will you embrace the monstrous legacy of your Sabbat origins, or fight to preserve the last remnants of your humanity?
Eternal Whispers places roleplaying and consequence at the absolute heart of the experience. While there are no traditional combat encounters, players are entirely free to pursue violent, manipulative, or ruthless approaches through the choices and paths offered throughout the game. Every conversation, alliance, betrayal, or act of violence shapes the story, altering relationships and opening or closing opportunities along the way.
The project is born from the critical and commercial success of Vampire: The Masquerade — Chapters. Developed by a hybrid team experienced in both tabletop and video game design, Eternal Whispers builds upon an established narrative and artistic foundation while expanding the World of Darkness into a rich narrative CRPG experience.
Visually, the game’s gothic identity draws heavy inspiration from dark illustration, concept art, and striking architecture, blending contemporary urban decay with the surreal underground sanctuaries hidden beneath the city.
“I’ve been playing Vampire: The Masquerade ttrpg for more than 25 years,” adds Paitre. “The universe, its themes, and the stories it creates have stayed with me for most of my life. That passion eventually pushed me to create Vampire: The Masquerade — Chapters, our narrative board game adaptation of the license, and later became the driving force behind Vampire: The Masquerade — Eternal Whispers.”
