The haunting soundtrack to the 2026 psychological horror film “Return to Silent Hill” is officially coming to vinyl. Laced Records is releasing a deluxe 2LP set featuring 29 specially remastered tracks by award-winning composer and sound designer Akira Yamaoka, whose iconic music has defined the franchise since the original 1999 Silent Hill video game.
The Laced Records store will release an exclusive 2LP vinyl set, pressed on ‘Fog World’ blend-effect discs and presented in a deluxe gatefold sleeve, while standard black versions of the vinyl are available via Laced and retail partners.
The score for the motion picture was guided by three distinct principles Yamaoka has developed over decades of shaping the franchise’s auditory nightmare: Never decide music purely through emotions; Blur the boundary between music and environmental sound, between reality and the inner world; Never reject beauty.
“The horror of Silent Hill is not merely unpleasant or violent,” says Yamaoka. “There is always something fragile, human, and irretrievably beautiful mixed within it. Refusing to deny that has remained unchanged since the beginning.”
Working closely with director Christophe Gans, Yamaoka built the score piece by piece to capture the psychological depth of Silent Hill 2—the legendary game on which the film is based—and translate it into a cinematic format. Longtime fans can look forward to reimagined, iconic cues in tracks like “Chasing Laura” and “Brookhaven Hospital”.
“The goal was never to replay the game’s music as it was,” Yamaoka explains. “Instead, the challenge was to reinterpret it—to alter its meaning, its distance, and its placement—so it could breathe within the film’s sense of time, imagery, and the inner lives of the characters. It was not a quotation, but a reimagining.”
Whether you’re a survival horror veteran or a newcomer stepping into the fog for the very first time, the “Return to Silent Hill” soundtrack delivers a masterclass in distorted sounds and jagged textures, unified by a mood that is unstable, murky, and beautifully melancholic.
The “Return to Silent Hill Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” is available to stream now on all major digital music platforms. You can secure your physical copy by pre-ordering the vinyl today directly from Laced Records.
