Retro-Inspired First-Person Horror Game Dead Stop – No Vacancy Sets August Release

Portuguese indie studio Camel 101 is launching a new dark anthology next month, starting with the remote, Paradise Motel.

“Dead Stop – No Vacancy,” the debut entry in the team’s planned series of short, standalone horror games inspired by classic horror stories and unsettling real-world locations, hits Steam on Aug. 13.

The premiere title puts players in the shoes of Nancy, a hard-edged investigative reporter tracking a lead to the isolated town of Crestfall. After taking a wrong turn and without a GPS signal, daylight fades, and Nancy is forced to pull over at the Paradise Motel. What starts as a simple pit stop quickly spirals into a deep dive into the lodge’s sinister past—and whatever lurks underneath it.

Unlike heavy cinematic titles, Dead Stop leans into retro, PS1-style visuals and environmental storytelling. Players piece together the narrative through exploration, local clues, and unsettling details scattered around the property rather than non-interactive cutscenes.

Camel 101 previously developed sci-fi horror title Beneath and psychological thriller Those Who Remain.

A playable demo for Dead Stop – No Vacancy is currently available on Steam, where players can also add the game to their wishlist ahead of its Aug. 13 debut.
