Psychological Survival-Horror Game Holstin Coming to PC and Consoles in 2027

Publisher team17 and developer Sonka have announced that the psychological survival-horror game Holstin will launch on PC and consoles in 2027, featuring a Day One release on Xbox Game Pass.

Set in an isolated, decaying Polish town in the early 1990s, the title blends classic survival-horror mechanics with a unique pixel-art style powered by Sonka’s custom 2XD Rendering technology.

The dynamic camera system allows players to rotate their view across eight distinct angles while exploring Jeziorne-Kolonia. The game seamlessly shifts perspectives based on gameplay, transitioning from an isometric view during exploration to an over-the-shoulder perspective during combat, as well as first-person driving, top-down navigation, and side-scrolling sections.

Players step into the shoes of Tomasz Wolanski, who travels to the remote lakeside town to search for his missing friend, an investigative journalist. To survive the grotesque monstrosities roaming Jeziorne-Kolonia, players must scavenge for weapons and supplies while navigating the fading sanity of the local residents. Gaining the trust of the unhinged townsfolk is key to unlocking clues and solving puzzles.

The game painstakingly recreates 1990s post-Soviet Poland, from period-accurate furniture and signage to authentic interior design and architecture. Holstin features full voice acting in both Polish and English, alongside a soundtrack by Polish alternative-rock band Heima. The band’s single from the game, “Skaza,” is now available on major streaming platforms.

A playable demo for Holstin, featuring the opening two hours of the game, is available on Steam, where it currently holds a 94% “Very Positive” user rating.
