AMC+ and Crave dropped the first teaser and teaser art for the upcoming eight-episode drama series “Yaga” during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend. Set to premiere this October, the half-hour series reimagines the classic myth of Baba Yaga as a contemporary mystery thriller set in a moody, small coastal town.
Based on the hit play by writer and showrunner Kat Sandler, the story follows private investigator Rapp (Noah Reid, “Schitt’s Creek”), who arrives in town to look into the disappearance of Henry Park (Hudson Williams, “Heated Rivalry”), the young heir to a powerful fishing empire. Rapp soon finds himself out of his depth, clashing with a wary local detective (Clark Backo, “Venom: The Last Dance”), a charismatic university professor (Carrie-Anne Moss, “The Matrix” films), and a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives, and ancient magic.
The series features an ensemble cast that includes Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle, and Hiro Kanagawa, as well as Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris, and Sam Krochmal.
“Yaga” is a Crave Original series produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in association with Bell Media. David Frazee and Rachel Talalay serve as co-directors, with Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller, and Moss executive producing alongside producer Charles Cooper.
