Fresh off the heels of Sunday’s season three finale, AMC announced at San Diego Comic-Con that the “Interview with the Vampire” series will return for a fourth season — and it’s officially taking on “Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned.”
The news broke Friday during a SDCC panel for the show’s third season, “The Vampire Lestat.” Season four will adapt the third entry in Rice’s iconic Vampire Chronicles series.
Executive producer Hannah Moscovitch will step up as showrunner alongside returning executive producers Mark Johnson and Rolin Jones. Moscovitch previously served as a writer on seasons one and two and wrote specifically for the characters Akasha and Gabriella in season three.
“We can’t wait to continue the journey with ‘Queen of the Damned,’ one of the most iconic stories in Anne Rice’s mythology,” said Dan McDermott, Chief Content Officer of AMC Global Media and President of AMC Studios. “And watch our established and beloved characters confront Akasha with their world, and ours, very much hanging in the balance.”
Debuting in 2022, “Interview with the Vampire” has faithfully adapted Rice’s literature in chronological order. The first two seasons covered the titular 1976 novel, while season three pivoted to “The Vampire Lestat.”
The core cast — Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Delainey Hayles — are expected to return, alongside Sheila Atim as the ancient vampire queen Akasha and Jennifer Ehle as Gabriella.
