Magnolia Home Entertainment is bringing last year’s controversial Biblical horror film, “The Carpenter’s Son,” starring Nicolas Cage, to Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD on February 17, 2026.
Written and directed by Lotfy Nathan (“12 O’Clock Boys”), the film is a haunting reimagining of Jesus’ childhood. Set in a remote village in Roman-era Egypt, Joseph (Cage), Mary (FKA twigs), and their teenage son Jesus (Noah Jupe) live a life of quiet tradition under constant threat. However, their world is upended when a mysterious stranger (Isla Johnston) begins to entice Jesus to abandon his father’s path.
As the boy is lured into a forbidden world, Joseph realizes a demonic power is at work. Violent, unnatural events begin to shadow Jesus as he experiences nightmarish visions of the future—culminating in the discovery of his playmate’s true identity: Satan.
The film polarized audiences upon its initial release. While many critics praised its bold, artistic exploration of faith and humanity, several religious groups condemned the film as blasphemous. The script was inspired by “The Infancy Gospel of Thomas,” a second-century Greek text said to chronicle Jesus’ early life.
The physical editions of “The Carpenter’s Son” are available for pre-order now. The digital release will be available from Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango at Home, Google Play, DirecTV, and more.
