Candystore.com Releases the Top Halloween Candy by State in a new Interactive Map

According to the National Retail Federation, an estimated $2.7 billion will be spent on trick-or-treat candy this year.  In order to help consumers buy the “right” candy for trick or treaters this Halloween, Candystore.com decided to try and figure out what candy is most popular in each state.  Using sales data from the months leading up to Halloween from the last 10 years along with contributions from the major candy manufacturers, they’ve determined the three most popular candies in each state.  In my home state of California the top 3 are M&M’s, Salt Water Taffy, and Skittles, but you can see the favorites in your area in the interactive map below:

Curious to see how the favorites hold up to past years? Candystore.com shared more insights on each state’s candy trends here, along with raw numbers that show how many pounds of each candy was sold to each state. What do you think of the results? Does your favorite Halloween candy align with your state? Mine sure didn’t. If I had to pick my top three, they would be Snickers, Kit Kat, and Twix. I guess I should move to Alaska, they at least got two out of the three.
