CandyStore.com Unveils 2020’s Most Popular Halloween Candy by State

Since 2018, CandyStore.com has been releasing an annual interactive map highlighting the most popular Halloween candy in each of the 50 states. The online candy retailer is back for 2020 with an updated map and some new favorite candy trends.

Like last year, there seems to be a continued shift away from chocolate as more states shift to fruity favorites. In fact, Starburst overtook M&M’s as the third most popular candy, behind Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Skittles. Of the 25 states that crowned a new favorite in 2020, five shifted from chocolate to a fruit-flavored candy like Skittles or Starburst.

Snickers dropped three positions in 2020 to number seven, while Hot Tamales jumped from the seventh position to number five. Candy corn held strong as the sixth most popular candy, while Sour Patch Kids and Hershey Kisses both moved up one position.
